M&V’s Mr Lee Eng Lock, winner of BCA-SGBC “Green Innovator Lifetime Achievement Award”
We are proud to announce that Mr Lee Eng Lock, Vice-Chairman and Senior Technical Director, of Measurement & Verification Pte Ltd (M&V), has been conferred the inaugural Green Innovator Lifetime Achievement Award by the Building Construction Authority (BCA) and Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC) in recognition of his outstanding leadership and contributions to green and sustainable building design
Mr Lee Eng Lock pioneered the design and operation of highly efficient air-conditioning plants. He is committed to developing practical solutions for mechanical systems in buildings through superior engineering, innovative design, and attention to details. As such, he has been leading the industry in the optimisation of HVAC systems globally and received several accolades such as the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE) Champion of Energy Efficiency in Building Award in 2012, the Reuben Trane Innovation award in 2012, the Factory of the year award in 1998 for the Western Digital factory in Kuala Lumpur in 1998, among others.
Mr Lee demonstrated his commitment and belief in highly efficient air-conditioning systems in the tropics through his projects where he has designed, built, retrofitted chiller plants at better than 0.6kW/ton in several local projects such as Grand Hyatt Singapore, Tien Wah Press, and Singpost, all at better than 35% return on investment, with high accuracy, web-based monitoring at one-minute intervals, and guaranteed performance. These high monitoring and verification standards were subsequently incorporated into the Green Mark Scheme.
Quote by Mr lee
“The foundation of engineering is the use of precise measurements
to build a solid base on which society can innovate confidently.
I am very glad to have contributed in some small way to this goal, which
leads to more efficient air conditioning plants and many other
related infrastructure services.”
The Lifetime Achievement Award is a special award introduced by BCA and SCGB this year to recognise very distinguished industry practitioners and professionals who have been making outstanding contributions to green and sustainable building design and practices, and have demonstrated leadership and innovation in specific areas of the green building movement that have a significant impact on the way buildings are designed and operated
